Flies, don't forget them!!
Flies are probably the most important item in your gear bag. You won't catch any fish without one tied to the end of your tippet They are tied to imitate various aquatic, and terrestrial insects.(land insects) The aquatic insects include, Caddis, Mayfly, and Stone. Each having a Dry, Wet and Nymph imitation. Your assortment of these must include various hook sizes to match the hatch you are fishing. (Most important) Terrestrial's include Ants, Beetles and Grasshoppers. Again in various hook sizes. Streamers represent bait fish, an important part of a large fish diet. Of course they all have to have a name. Not that the fish care. So there has to be one with no name out there somehere. How about a hares ear, pheasant tail, woolly bugger, birds nest, humpy, and the list goes on and on. We all have a picture in our mind on each of these. Then we have various imitations for bass, steelhead, salmon, shad and salt water. Each having their own name. So how do we obtain these critters? Two choices, tie your own or visit your favorite shop, catalog, or internet source. If you have a fishing buddy that loves to tie, treat him nice. What are you waiting for? Get your gear together and lets go fishing. We will be listing Web Sites, Shops and other outlets that offer them for sale. Thanks for checking in.
